<image:caption>Left untreated, noxious weeds like Spotted Knapweed or Canada Thistle will quickly dominate the landscape creating a monoculture of weeds that are devastating to native plants and natural grasses. Spotted Knapweed even releases its own natural herbicide into the soil killing off desirable native species around it. Cheatgrass is an invasive annual grass species that first germinates in the fall, overwinters, and then outcompetes native perennial grass by producing seed in the spring before desirable species have a chance. Invasive annual grass species like Cheatgrass and Ventenata steal moisture from the soil, cause excessive erosion, and contribute to increase risk of intense wildfire and dry forest fuel conditions.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Noxious weeds like Leafy Spurge or Yellow Toadflax are extremely difficult to eradicate and infestations often require multiple years of continued monitoring. Detrimental to pasture and range, these plants reduce grass forage for livestock and diminish biodiversity and the integrity of our forests and native grass lands. Many noxious weeds like Houndstongue and St. John’s Wort are even toxic to livestock.</image:caption>
